What happens to your data
The help you ask for determines what Omnisible needs to process: a camera view, a question or a location. Here is what leaves your iPhone, what stays on it and what you can control, as of October 2026. The full privacy policy is being prepared for the App Store release and will be published here.
What leaves the phone, and when
- During a live camera session or a question: camera pictures, the text of what you said, and short on-device tags (text it read, objects, distances) go to our server on Cloudflare and on to an AI provider that produces the answer. Your speech is turned into text by Apple's recognition on the phone. The app uploads audio in one case only: if the phone cannot turn speech into text, a request you speak on the home screen is sent as a short recording.
- When you ask for a route, stops or a place, or a bus or line number to watch for: your location and the request go to our server, and for routes, stops and places on to the map providers that answer (Google Maps Platform, Apple Maps, OpenStreetMap, transit data sources). A request with a number in it, such as a bus to watch for, also sends a rough location (about 1 km) to our server, used only to check which lines run in your city.
- When you send a report: the reported reply is included. A camera session from the last two hours and its pictures are selected by default; review or remove these before sending. You can also choose to include the conversation or walk log; before anything is sent the app tells you what goes and lets you send without the pictures or cancel.
What stays on the phone
- The Offline Assistant: everything it sees and says.
- People you introduce. Their photos are never kept; recognition happens on the phone.
- Local copies of your session history, saved conversations, memories, labelled spots, shortcuts and reminders. Relevant conversation context and memories are sent when you use cloud assistance.
- Your last three live camera sessions, so you can attach one to a report: what was said, what the camera detected, and the pictures the assistant looked at. Kept in the app's cache, which is not backed up; older sessions are deleted.
How long we keep things
- The live-session cache is cleared after inactivity; cleanup checks run at 30-minute intervals. Ask requests are stored while running, and completed replies are retained for up to 24 hours. AI Gateway diagnostic logs and AI providers may also retain request and response data; their retention settings are still being verified for the full privacy policy. These cache timeouts are not a guarantee that all copies have been deleted.
- Camera frames, conversation logs, walk logs and camera sessions attached to a report you send are deleted after 30 days.
- Your account (email) and credit balance are kept while the account exists. Deleting the account in Settings removes them together with your reports.
- Usage analytics use a pseudonymous identifier: the app sends event names and numbers under a one-way hashed id, never text, names or pictures. You can turn them off in Settings → Privacy.
What we do not do
- We do not sell data and we show no advertising.
- The assistant is instructed not to read out card numbers, PINs or passwords. This is not a guarantee that it will never make a mistake.
- The full privacy policy will specify provider and diagnostic-log retention before the App Store release.
